First place winner: Borrelia burgdorferi biofilm photo wins most popular category in the 2012 ATCC Microbiology Photo Contest. Holly Ahern, Associate Professor of Microbiology at SUNY Adirondack, submitted the photo taken by Bob Myers. As Holly noted, "If the photo wins..there will be recognition at the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) General Meeting and on the ATCC website. ..this will be the FIRST time that Borrelia Burgdorferi ability to produce a biofilm will be recognized by an INTERNATIONAL community of scientists. Hard to believe when you look at the picture that here that there is any doubt...but, there is."
