Hamburg: Focus on Chronic Illness Drugs Needed
"I think that in the chronic disease area, we both need to apply many of these important new insights into how to streamline and modernize our regulatory system, bringing the best science to bear, and recognizing we don't [need] to have studies that have to wait for the whole natural history of the disease to unfold to access how something works," Hamburg said during a discussion with Sanofi Chief Executive Chris Viehbacher."
"The goal is to help speed the development and approval of new drugs. Legislation would come early next year, Upton said."
