The irony of the headline of the Aug. 9 front-page article "Things you don't know about Lyme disease" struck me like a lightning bolt.
As a son of a parent who died from Lyme disease complications and the parent of a son battling chronic Lyme, we know that the article tells only part of the story. There is much more to know about Lyme disease."
"The statement that Lyme symptoms existing beyond initial treatment is not Lyme and will not respond to antibiotics is misleading and dangerous. Current research on monkeys indicates the disease is present but is deeply embedded in tissues, undetectable by current tests and protected from antibiotics."
