Tests for Lyme disease don't work well enough to diagnose illness early, federal panel says

They report that early blood tests for Lyme are not reliable and that many go on to have severe, chronic illness.
They also state that the “discord” between government/ certain medical bodies and actual medical experts on Lyme have caused an “explosion of cases throughout the country.”
Tons of heartache could be prevented if we had a reliable early-detection test. That is, IF doctors know to look for Lyme.
Lyme and other tick-borne disease is still best diagnosed clinically based upon signs and symptoms as we have no reliable tests and early treatment typically leads to better outcomes.
How many of you were diagnosed early?
“10 percent to 20 percent of Lyme disease patients diagnosed in the early stages experience symptoms for six months or longer after diagnosis and treatment, according to the report. Those diagnosed later may end up with chronic Lyme disease...”
