So picture it... these little guys are hanging out in your grass, just newly hatched, and they are hungry!! You walk by. They can "see" your shadow and smell your breath. They reach up with their front legs and as you casually walk by, they grab onto your shoe, your sock, or your leg. If they catch your shoe or sock, guess where they are going? Right up your pant leg. So, fellas, are you a boxer kind of guy or are you a tighty whitey kind of guy? Because they are about to go right for their favorite place to hang out and feed. That's right. Your groin! Do you think you would know if these got into that area? Sure, you think you found a couple but did you really find all of them? Something to think about, isn't it?
The larval stage of ticks is commonly referred to as "seed ticks". Now, it used to be believed that if you were bit by a seed tick, no problem because you are their first meal. Not so any more. They are now finding Borrelia miyamotoi in 6 - 73% of larvae ticks.
