CYMI: VIDEOS: Study: Pesticide doesn't stop Lyme
Spraying yards kills ticks, but people, pets still encounter bugs
“Pesticides may not be very effective at controlling risk for tick-borne diseases in your yard,” Alison Hinckley, epidemiologist with the CDC’s Division of Vector-borne Diseases, said in a telephone interview Tuesday.
Dildilian’s yard was one of 2,500 in New York, Connecticut and Maryland that were sprayed in the spring of 2011 and 2012 with either Bifenthrin — which kills tick larvae, nymphs and adults for as many as 41 weeks — or a placebo."
