Dr. Murikami : The broken off parts have salivary glands which will remain in the host tissues and can cause the chronic release of many vector borne infections.

I was on my way to Vancouver on Thursday March 13/th ,when I got a Cell phone call from my son Paul that he had a tick imbeded on his back. I advised that he go to the emergency at Fraser Canyon Hospital and have the attending Emergency doctor to use the Blister method of removal. This was initiated and the directions are in YUTUBE (-Murakami Tick Removal) and this is the injection of Zylocaine 0.3ml with adrenalin intradermally immediately under the ticks mouth or proboscis. The doctor was skeptical about the effectiveness of this procedure and waited and my grandson shouted "Dad it is coming out on it's own". This technique was developed with my Medical Student from UBC Medical School Dr. Nima Shojania at the Fraser Canyon Hospital and at the Murakami Medical Clinic. The tick was sent to CDC for culture and PCR for Borelia burgdorferi.
The other tick removal with the straw and single knot was developed with Medical Student Dr. Susan Christie and this method is also on YUTUBE Murakami Tick removal. All other methods such as continuous traction , hooking or twisting will break off the mouth parts due to the multiple barb with sharp hooks on the sides of the mouth parts are not advised.
