conference "Beyond Lyme & Other Chronic Illnesses: Reclaiming Your Health and Well-Being

"As Dr. Horowitz explains, he is typically successful in getting 92% of his patients better. But there is an “8%” that are the most difficult to treat. Could this breakthrough break the code for closing in on the 8% of people that are most difficult to get better? It could. I’ll never forget those chilling yet cheerful words: “We are closing in on the 8%,” Dr. Horowitz whispered.
It works like this. Dr. Horowitz first combines 2-3 intracellular antibiotics to reach the persister bacteria hiding in cells. This would be the “triple persister” cocktail. Then he pulses with a cellular antibiotic. This pulsing has been shown to be effective based on the incredible work of professor and researcher Kim Lewis of Northeastern University. Dr. Horowitz has found this regimen to be very successful for people who continue to have symptoms or relapses. BUT FURTHERMORE, he has now found with the help of the work from Dr. Zhang that adding dapsone (pyrazinamide) to this regimen for the most difficult of cases…could be THE key to perishing the persisters for once and for all. Dapsone being that potential mycobacterium super drug used against Tuberculosis and leprosy."

Rien. Il ne reste rien.
Grand vide sidéral: aux abonnées absentes,
En zone sinistrée, ma mémoire envolée!

Et cet affreux silence étirant les secondes
Jusqu’à ce que se rompe le fil de mes pensées;

Fonte musculaire, douleurs ophtalmiques, douleurs dentaires,
Et toutes mes nuits me font peur.
Mon corps a mal

Babesiosis is one of the most frequently observed co-infections in my Lyme patients that contributes to persistent illness.

From Dr Horowitz

Babesiosis is one of the most frequently observed co-infections in my Lyme patients that contributes to persistent illness. There are many species of Babesia, and Babesia microti and Babesia WA-1/duncani are the most common species in the US, with Babesia divergens and Babesia venatorum (EU-1) being commonly seen in Europe. Other species are emerging in the US like Babesia odocoilei
(Increased diversity of zoonotic pathogens and Borrelia burgdorferi strains in established versus incipient Ixodes scapularis populations across the Midwestern United States. Hamera, S. et al. DOI: 10.1016/j.meegid.2014.06.003). In this article published in Cellular Microbiology, the authors describe details of Babesia's biology that may help us to control parasite populations. Any Lyme patient with ongoing unexplained malaria-like symptoms such as fevers, day and night sweats, chills, an unexplained cough and "air hunger/shortness of breath" may have Babesiosis. A Babesia panel, checking titers (IFA for B.microti and B. duncani), PCR's and RNA testing (FISH, IgeneX laboratory) may help identify Babesiosis. A differential diagnostic map to identify the multiple causes of fevers and sweats can be found on page 68 of Why Can't I Get Better?".

Using public surveillance to study insect vectors of Chagas disease in Texas
"Chagas disease is caused by a parasitic protozoan (Trypanosoma cruzi) and transmitted via triatomine insects known locally in Texas as 'kissing bugs.' Due to the success of community based triatomine surveillance and collection in Central and South America, researchers set up a citizen science program to gain insight into the distribution and infection prevalence of triatomine insects in Texas."
