The Lyme disease ecological plot thickens:
French researchers report that "Introduced Siberian Chipmunks Contribute
More to Lyme Borreliosis Risk than Native Reservoir Rodents." The
presence of chipmunks not only contributed to a higher number of Lyme
borrelia genotypes, they "produced nearly 8.5 times more infected
questing nymphs than voles and mice." Yikes!
