16th February 2013
On the anniversary of Dr. Elyssa Harte's untimely death, an educational fund has been established in her honor.
From the Ridgefield (CT) Lyme Disease Task Force:
February 2013
Dear Friends & Colleagues
It has been one year since we lost a very good friend and colleague, Elyssa Harte, ND. Elyssa’s sudden and tragic death touched many of us personally, and was a great loss for the whole community. Her compassion and dedication to the treatment of tick-borne diseases earned her the trust of many patients young and old. She was a healer in the truest sense of the word.
At the time, Elyssa’s loved ones requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be sent to the Ridgefield Lyme Disease Task Force to further Lyme disease education for healthcare professionals. Out of these terribly sad circumstances came an outpouring of support – support that truly made a difference.
This past October, donations in Elyssa’s honor funded a free seminar in Ridgefield for clinicians entitled “Healing the Patient with Lyme Disease: An Integrative Approach.” The daylong program educated practitioners at the Leir Retreat House on challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with tick-borne diseases.
Now, upon the first anniversary of Elyssa’s passing, our Task Force is pleased to announce that her legacy will live on through the newly established Elyssa Harte Memorial Fund. All donations to this 501c(3) fund will be used specifically for the advancement of professional education on Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. We see this as a fitting way to honor Dr. Harte’s commitment to education, to her patients, and to the community she loved.
It takes great courage to face the challenges of tick-borne disease, for practitioners and patients alike. Please join with us in remembering Dr. Harte and all she did to better the lives of so many people, by making a donation to the Memorial Fund today. Your generosity will help fund high-quality professional education programs – a critical cornerstone of progress in the fight against tick-borne diseases.
As we watch the rates of Lyme and associated infections continue to rise, the good news is that more and more clinicians are eager to learn about tick-borne diseases, and how best to help their patients. Our Task Force is committed to meeting this need, but it will only happen through the support of friends like you. Together we can and will make great strides in Elyssa Harte’s memory.
Sincerely,
Karen Gaudian Jennifer Reid Sandy Berenbaum
