Many of us have struggled to get proper medical care for Lyme and other Tick Borne Diseases. Sadly, some of the people suffering have also gone through the struggle alone. Yolanda Foster has been fortunate to have the financial means to cover her medical care. Unlike many celebrities or people of means she has been open about her struggle and has “put it all out there” to bring the insidious truth about Lyme disease into the public eye. I only wish more famous people would help in cause in such a public way. I am so grateful to famous people like Yolanda for doing what they can to help. The LDA has worked with some wonderful volunteers. People like author, Amy Tan, who also suffers from Lyme disease, was public with her struggle and helped the Lyme Disease Association, Inc. create the LymeAid 4 Kids program. A fund that to assist families with children dealing with Lyme. Actress, Mary McDonnell wrote the Foreword for Denise Lang’s book, "Coping with Lyme Disease" and is the national spokesperson for the Lyme Disease Association. Ms. McDonnell joined in the fight because of a family member who was stricken with Lyme disease. Others like, author, Rebecca Wells, international executive, Patricia Susan Slaughter, PhD and Sarah Brady, social activist, have joined in the cause.
