It is very easy to draw parallels between the early days of HIV (poor testing, empiric treatment, lack of care until patients acted up, protocols designed by patients/maverick doctors etc.) and the current state with Lyme.

It is very easy to draw parallels between the early days of HIV (poor testing, empiric treatment, lack of care until patients acted up, protocols designed by patients/maverick doctors etc.) and the current state with Lyme. So, I was very curious to see this report and to learn just how many people are known to be affected by HIV in the UK. It is 100, 000. From German reports, 1 million people get Lyme there every year. So what is the true incidence of chronic tick borne disease in the UK ? Until we get an accurate number, nobody is paying attention. Until we get accurate testing, we won't know that number'.

The problem in the uK could be 10000 year on year infected with Lyme ie 10x serology positive cases according to some reliable resources and of that number children are the most vulnerable and could live 50-70 years with the disease that NHS is ignoring.
