Breaking News: Canada Acknowledges In Utero Transmission of Lyme Disease!

Fantastic news today in Canada! For 18 months we have been working with our federal public health officials to discuss and request acknowledgement of transplacental transmission of Lyme disease in Canada. We need to acknowledge and give our thanks to Jenna Luche-Thayer and the ICD codes working group for paving the way with the WHO ICD updates acknowledging Congenital Lyme Borreliosis!
today in a meeting, Canadian federal public health officials and scientists acknowledged that transplacental transmission of lyme can occur.. and committed to update the Canadian public health website to reflect that. this is truly groundbreaking, considering just weeks ago the head of one of our Provincial public health bodies was quoted in the paper as saying transplacental lyme does not exist.
We asked the group to put on our LymeHope hats and stand together for a picture, to give hope to Canadian families, and families worldwide, that advocates and government can work together to bring change.
We were so fortunate to have Dr. Charles Ray Jones call in, and stay on the line for over 2 hours to participate and share his experience over 60 years treating over 30,000 children from all around the world!
Just wanted to share the good news..
happy (Canadian) thanksgiving!!!
