http://www.tickedoffmusicfest.com/ is an East Coast, US concert series dedicated to the prevention, awareness and cure of Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses that have become the fastest growing infectious diseases in the country. When: The first Ticked Off fest will take place in Philadelphia in October of 2012 with details of the band line-ups, venue and concert time still pending. Updates are expected to be released at the end of July 2012, but the Philadelphia schedule will consist of four well-known Philly bands and a national headlining act. What: Five bands will play 45 min. sets with 15 min. breakdown periods. During breakdown, educational videos and testimonials will be shown on a screen behind the stage. There will also be exhibitor booths or tables to be posted in appropriate areas that receive walk-through traffic and several well-known speakers will also give presentations from the stage. Attendees will be able to give onsite and online donations as well as purchase merchandise the day of the event. A majority of these proceeds will go to theTBDA Tick-Borne Disease Alliance. The organization is dedicated to raising awareness, supporting research and promoting advocacy to find a cure for tick-borne diseases, including Lyme. Further proceeds will go to the Inanna House, an inpatient recovery center for chronic Lyme sufferers. Why: Lyme and tick-borne diseases are the fastest growing infectious diseases in the country and Pennsylvania in particular has had the most reported cases of Lyme in the last year. The goal is to drive awareness, give tips on prevention, connect those suffering from illness with Lyme-educated doctors, and to educate on the many symptoms of the diseases. If you are an interested promoter, band, potential sponsor, exhibitor or are simply interested in helping the cause, please contact us. We hope to be holding similar future events in New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Alabama. http://www.tickedoffmusicfest.com/ |
