Ninety
horses with a diagnosis of neuroborreliosis (neurological disease
caused by Lyme disease) were studied after they had died. The results
showed that positive blood and spinal
fluid tests for Lyme disease and the ratio between those tests did not
adequately differentiate horses with neuroborreliosis from horses with
other neurological diseases. Lyme disease diagnosis and treatment in
horses and other pets and livestock continues to be as complex as
diagnosis and treatment in humans.
