What to eat when battling Lyme Disease?
Note: The page will be continuously updated as new foods and information are presented
What constitutes the Lyme Disease Diet?
The Lyme Disease Diet is very simple. Consume a diet that is deficient of gluten, dairy, and sugar.
Why should I avoid Gluten, Dairy, and Sugar?
- Gluten is the protein found in wheat and is directly responsible for causing inflammation in the body. A large portion of the population can't consume gluten, or what the medical likes to refer as "Celiacs Disease", because well, we humans really weren't designed to consume it. The whole concept of eating "gluten free" is now being harnessed by corporations as a marketing tool for business and as a result, the credibility of the natural human diet is being diluted.
- Dairy contains a protein known as casein which is also responsible for causing inflammation in the body. Dairy is questionable though in regards to being consumed raw(unpasteurized) as opposed to pasteurized. There is evidence that suggests that raw dairy, because it comes from cows that are grass-fed, contain the right balance of omega-6 (inflammatory) and omega-3(non-inflammatory) fatty acids. Cows or any livestock that are fed grains as opposed to grass have a distorted and compromised metabolism simply because of their diet; they're consuming grains when they're designed to consume grass. Sound familiar?
- Sugar is believed to feed the spirochetes and also suppress the immune system. When it comes to consuming sugar when healing from Lyme Disease, there exists no greater confusion or frustration; and there shouldn't. Again, human beings weren't designed to consume sugar in the manner that we do today but in the appropriate absorption through foods naturally containing sugar. The only sugar one should consume is the sugar that is contained in the wholesome and nutritious foods we were designed to consume. Even still, some people have a reaction or response to high sugar fruits while battling Lyme Disease so be discretionary and listen to your body.
Back to Basics
It was never our job as a living organism to consciously determine what foods to consume (i.e., alkaline and acidic). All we were biologically responsible for in regards to food was eating it but these days we can't. Now we must consciously choose which foods to consume because we as a species have destroyed and contaminated our only food and water resources.
It used to be that the only food any human on this earth ate was wholesome and organic but now such a naturally required style of eating is being mocked. Now since we've destroyed and contaminated a good portion of our food supply, we have been bestowed with the additional task of questioning what we eat; alongside finding food in the first place.

What's the deal with acidic and alkalizing foods?
Alkalizing foods are more beneficial to the body than acidic but no one can truly explain why. It's all just incredibly confusing and it shouldn't be. Eating should not require the part of your brain that is also utilized for calculus and other highly complex conceptions. Yes, some foods are more acidic while others are more alkalizing. Yes, some foods and more prone to causing inflammation than others. Let's not forget that inflammation isn't bad in short bursts. Inflammation is the body's response to heal and defend itself. It's when the inflammation becomes chronic that is becomes bad. Eat foods according to your body's requirements.

- Food for Thought -
Bias towards organic food or think it's just a gimmick? Consider this!
The food our ancestors ate, which wasn't that long ago, was in fact organic food. They just didn't call it "organic" because there was no opposing contaminated and destroyed food supply . The food was consumed by humans in the way it spawned from the earth; full of living enzymes.

This isn't an implication to eat anything but remind you that your body knows best. There exists no perfect diet for healing from Lyme Disease because everyone's body is different when it comes to nutritional demands. So when it comes to eating, remember this: Eat wholesome and organic foods but be sure to understand how certain foods make you feel after consuming them because after all, your body knows best what it needs!
