While this study does not address the risks associated with being pregnant while having a chronic inflammatory disease, like tick-borne diseases, it does open the door for understanding why so many of our children end up on the spectrum, or suffer from sensory processing disorder. And no, it's not 'the mother's fault', any more than it's her fault she got bit by a tick. Since there are so few studies on the links between lyme, maternal transmission and autism, studies like these validate what we've been saying for some time.
